Natalie Orr-Andrea,
Owner and Director

<> CMSRecital16_334NatalieNatalie Orr opened Creative Motion Studios, LLC, in July 2011. It has been Natalie’s lifelong goal from the age of ten to own her own dance studio, and she is happy to be able to realize her dream with her family and support system nearby. Natalie has been teaching various forms of dance throughout Northeast Ohio for the last twenty years. Natalie graduated cum laude from the University of Akron in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and minors in Dance and Entrepreneurship.

Natalie’s collegiate training included studying under former members of the Pennsylvania Ballet, Ohio Ballet, Martha Graham Company, and Jennifer Muller/The Works. While at Akron, she choreographed for and performed in many Choreographer’s Workshop and Spring Into Dance concerts, as well as performing with the University of Akron Dance Company (UADC). She ranked among the top ten percent of all graduating seniors in the College of Business Administration, and she was also a member of the Terpsichore Dance Club, the National Dean’s List, and the Golden Key National Honor Society.

Natalie has also attended workshops and classes with such master teachers and choreographers as Wade Robson (hip hop), Stepp Stewart (lyrical, hip hop), Brian Friedman (hip hop), Kate Jablonski (contemporary), Mike Minery (tap), Miller and Ben (tap), Ms. Vee (breaking, popping), Ephrat Asherie (breaking, hip hop), Saida (belly dance), Amar Gamal (belly dance), Nathalie Zarate (belly dance), Sadie Marquardt (belly dance), Zoe Jakes (belly dance), Jillina (belly dance), April Rose (belly dance), and Jennifer Muller (modern).

Natalie has taught and choreographed for several area studios and performing arts programs, including the Shaw Akron JCC and Copley High School’s theater program, and she has been a frequent guest teacher for Solon High School’s physical education program for several years. Her competitive dance students have received many high score, overall, and specialty awards at regional competitions, as well as recognition for choreography, performance, and creativity. Natalie also has former students studying dance at universities and teaching in private studios. Natalie directs Creative Motion Studios’ adult company, Veritas Dance Company, and the CMS Company, the CMS performance and competition team. Natalie has performed in the northeast Ohio area as a professional belly dance artist, appearing at restaurants such as Kan Zaman and Club 360, as well as at private events and weddings.

Natalie strives to continue her own dance education at every opportunity and works hard to constantly challenge her students on all levels. Although she loves to perform, her first love has always been teaching. She believes all dance instructors should continue their education and encourages her faculty to do so. She stresses the importance of a strong education, a knowledge of anatomy, dance history, and proper terminology, and heartfelt performance to her students. She strives to teach her students to dance and live with honesty, integrity, and poise. She works hard to instill in her students a sense of dancing for something greater than oneself in addition to proper technique. In turn, her students describe her classes as inspiring and challenging, and many of her former students continue to seek out her classes.
